- IntroductionBy downloading, installing, or using SlideCap ("the App"), you agree to be bound by our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. This page summarises the privacy parts for the App and this website (www.slidecap.com). The full wording also appears inside the App under Terms & Privacy Policy.
- Description of serviceSlideCap helps you photograph 35mm slides and film negatives on a lightbox using your device's camera. You can crop and rotate a photo, optionally add a title and year, and use AI to clean grain and tidy colour. You can also upscale an enhanced photo.
- PermissionsCamera: Required to photograph slides and negatives. Photos stay on your device unless you choose an AI feature.Photo Library: Required only when you save a photo. We do not browse or upload your existing photos.Motion sensors: Used to show when the camera is at a useful angle. That reading stays on the device.A title or year you add is written onto the saved photo on your device. It is not sent as a separate account detail, and it is not included in the photo sent for AI processing.
- AI enhancementAI features need a network connection and upload the photo you choose to process. Taking, cropping, rotating, or saving a photo does not upload it. Enhance and Enhance again send the photo to Google's Gemini API. Enhance again sends the original photo again, not a previously enhanced result. Upscale to 4K sends the highlighted enhanced photo to Replicate. SlideCap does not run its own image server and does not keep a copy of your photos after the result is saved on your device. How long a provider keeps a request is covered by that provider's own terms. On a cellular connection the App warns you before uploading.
- Photo Enhancement CreditsFree and purchased Photo Enhancement Credits are stored on your device. A credit is used only for Enhance, Enhance again, or Upscale to 4K. Credits are meant to remain if you delete and reinstall on the same device. They do not transfer to a new device. Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store (or Google Play when available) and are subject to that store's terms.
- Information we collectWe collect minimal information necessary for the App to function: how many Photo Enhancement Credits you have used or bought (stored on device), and a device identifier for usage limits. We do not collect your name, email, or location unless you contact us for support.
- Website lightboxThe lightbox page on this site is a bright white screen for backlighting slides on a second device. It does not capture or upload photos.
- Third parties & securityEnhance / Enhance again use Google Gemini; Upscale uses Replicate. SlideCap does not sell your photos or use them to train its own models. We use reasonable security measures, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
- Children's privacyThe App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
